Google Ads for electricians: fill the diary with the work you want
By Andrew Heppinstall, founder of Unavoidable Marketing, Leeds. Last updated 9 October 2026.
Unavoidable Marketing is a Leeds-based agency that runs Google Ads and Google Local Services Ads for electrical contractors across the UK. We build separate campaigns for emergency call-outs, EICRs, consumer unit upgrades, rewires and EV charger installs, track enquiries through to booked jobs, and charge a flat monthly fee on a rolling 30-day contract. You own the account.
Why Google Ads for electricians is different
Very different jobs, very different customers
A homeowner with no power at 9pm, a landlord needing an EICR before a tenancy and a family wanting an EV charger all search differently and are worth different amounts. One campaign for all of them wastes money.
Landlords and letting agents are a market of their own
Landlords in England need an electrical safety check at least every five years. EICR searches are planned, price-sensitive and often repeat business, so they deserve their own ads, landing page and follow-up.
Registration builds trust
Customers want to see NICEIC or NAPIT registration, insurance and guarantees before they book. Ads and pages that show it convert better than ones that just say local electrician.
Lots of wasted searches
Electrician courses, apprenticeships, DIY wiring and product searches all trigger trade ads unless you block them.
How we structure electrical campaigns
| Campaign | Typical searches | What the landing page answers |
|---|---|---|
| Emergency and fault finding | emergency electrician near me, power cut tripping | Response time, call-out cost range, areas covered |
| EICRs and landlord certificates | EICR [town], landlord electrical certificate cost | Price, turnaround, what happens if the report finds faults |
| Consumer unit upgrades | fuse box replacement cost, consumer unit upgrade | Price guide, safety, certification |
| Rewires | house rewire cost, rewiring [town] | Price ranges by house size, disruption, timescales |
| EV charger installation | EV charger installation [town], home charger fitting | Chargers you fit, typical cost, installation steps |
Each campaign has its own budget and landing page, so you can push the work you want more of (for example rewires and EV chargers) and hold back on work you are already busy with. Electricians are one of the UK trades eligible for Google Local Services Ads, which we often run alongside.

- A named person to talk to, based in Leeds
Pricing
Every account is different, so we quote after a free 30-minute call. Fees are flat and monthly, never a percentage of your ad spend, and there is no contract: everything runs on rolling 30-day terms. Ad spend is paid by you directly to the ad platform and never marked up.
Onboarding to live campaigns typically takes about 14 days. In our 2026 State of UK Trade Marketing report, well-managed electrical campaigns averaged around £68 per booked job.
Results from our trade clients
Mr Reactive, Leeds boiler installer (Google Ads): over £22,000 of revenue in the first month from £1,200 of ad spend (18 times the spend), and £10,000 or more a month from Google Ads since. Read the case study.
Yorkshire Auto Locksmith (Google Ads): calls tripled and form and email enquiries grew six times.
These are heating and locksmith clients, shown because the same approach applies to electricians: structure by service, track to booked jobs, cut wasted spend.
How to choose a Google Ads agency (whoever you pick)
- Ask for cost per booked job, not cost per click. Clicks and leads are not jobs. A good agency tracks enquiries through to booked work.
- Make sure the account is in your name. If you leave, your history, ads and data should stay with you.
- Check the contract. Long lock-ins protect the agency, not you.
- Ask how ad spend is paid. It should go straight to Google on your card, never marked up.
- Ask for results in a similar trade. And treat any agency’s own case studies, including ours, as claims to check.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Google Ads cost for an electrician?
Our management fee is a flat monthly fee, quoted after a free call. Ad spend is on top and paid straight to Google; many electrical firms start between £800 and £2,000 a month. We suggest a starting budget after checking search volumes in your area.
Can you target landlords and letting agents for EICRs?
Yes. We run EICR campaigns separately, with their own ads and landing page, so you can win planned landlord work alongside emergency jobs.
Is there a minimum contract?
No. Rolling 30 days, no exit fees, and the Google Ads account stays yours.
Can electricians use Google Local Services Ads?
Yes, electricians are one of the trades Google offers Local Services Ads for in the UK. They show the Google Verified badge and charge per lead.
How quickly will I see results?
Ads can show within a day or two. Expect useful enquiry data within about two weeks and booked-job data within 30 to 45 days.
Do you only work with electricians in Leeds?
No. We are based in Leeds and work with trades across the UK.
