Website design for plumbers: what a UK plumbing website needs in 2026
By Andrew Heppinstall, founder of Unavoidable Marketing, Leeds. Last updated 14 October 2026.
A good plumbing website gets the phone ringing. It shows your number at the top of every page, a page for each job you do and each area you cover, your Gas Safe number if you do gas work, real reviews and photos of your own jobs. It should load fast on a phone, because most people looking for a plumber are standing next to a leak.
The ten things every plumbing website needs
- A tap-to-call number at the top of every page on mobile, and a sticky call button.
- A page for each service: boiler installs, boiler repairs, bathroom installs, leaks, blocked drains, power flushing, emergency call-outs. One page each, not one long list.
- A page for each main town you cover, written properly with real jobs in that area. Avoid dozens of copied pages with the town name swapped.
- Your Gas Safe registration number if you work on gas, with a link to check it on the Gas Safe Register. It is a legal requirement and customers look for it.
- Other memberships such as WaterSafe, TrustMark or a manufacturer's accreditation for boiler warranties.
- Real reviews pulled from Google, with the customer's first name and town.
- Photos of your own work, your van and your team. Stock photos put people off.
- Price guidance, even as a range, for example a typical range for a new boiler. Pages that answer cost questions get found more by Google and by AI assistants.
- Opening and emergency hours that match your Google Business Profile exactly.
- A short quote form: name, phone, postcode and what they need. Nothing more.
What makes plumbing websites different
| Customer situation | What the website must do |
|---|---|
| Emergency: burst pipe or no heating | Show the phone number instantly and say how fast you can get there |
| Planned job: new boiler or bathroom | Show photos, reviews, warranties and finance options, and make it easy to request a survey |
| Landlord or letting agent | Mention gas safety certificates and repeat work for landlords |
Getting found on Google and in AI answers
Your website works hand in hand with your Google Business Profile. Use the same business name, address and phone number on both. Link each service page to your profile, and keep your profile's services list matching your website. When someone asks ChatGPT or Google's AI for a plumber in your town, they mostly draw on your Google profile, your website and your reviews. Read our guide on getting recommended by ChatGPT.
Mistakes we see on plumbers' websites
- No phone number visible on mobile without scrolling
- One page listing every service, so Google cannot match you to specific searches
- Gas Safe logo shown without the registration number
- Out-of-date opening hours or a disconnected number
- Slow pages full of large images, which lose impatient emergency callers
Frequently asked questions
How much does a plumbing website cost?
Simple template sites can cost a few hundred pounds. A proper site built to win work, with a page per service and area, usually costs more, or is included in a monthly marketing package. Our packages are a flat monthly fee, quoted after a free call.
Do I need a website if I have a Google Business Profile?
Your profile brings the calls, but most customers check your website before booking a bigger job such as a new boiler. A good site also gives Google and AI assistants more to recommend you on.
How long does it take to rank?
New service and area pages usually start appearing within weeks. Ranking near the top for competitive searches such as "boiler installation" in a city takes months of reviews, links and updates.
