Social media management for UK tradesmen: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Google posts done for you
What should a trade business post on social media, and who has time to do it? Post your real work, before and after photos, short job videos, your team and your reviews, a few times a week, and let someone else do the editing and scheduling. Unavoidable Marketing is a Leeds-based agency that manages organic social media for UK tradesmen: you send phone clips from the job, we edit and post them on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and your Google Business Profile, and founder Andrew Heppinstall is on every strategy call.

Why bother, when the work comes from word of mouth?
Most good trades get plenty of work from recommendations. But watch what happens when a neighbour passes your name on. The first thing the homeowner does is look you up. They check your Facebook page, scroll your Instagram, read your Google reviews. If your last post was a Christmas message from 2023, they wonder if you are still trading. If they see a bathroom you finished last week, three new reviews and a short clip of you explaining a boiler swap, the decision is half made.
Organic social is not mainly about going viral. It is about looking alive, local and trustworthy at the moment someone checks.
This page is about regular, unpaid posting. If you want paid adverts aimed at enquiries for planned jobs, that is a different service: Facebook and Instagram ads for tradesmen.
What to post
Before and after
The single most useful post a trade can make. Same angle, same light. A tired bathroom, then the finished one. A mossy roof, then the clean re-tile. A muddy garden, then the new patio.
Short job videos
15 to 40 seconds. Pulling a faulty consumer unit, a time-lapse of a driveway going down, showing a customer their new boiler controls. Vertical, filmed on your phone.
Your team
Who turns up at the door matters. A photo of the lads at the yard, an apprentice passing their course, a new van. People hire people.
Reviews
A genuine review turned into a simple graphic, with the town and the job. “New consumer unit, Chapel Allerton. Tidy, on time, explained everything.”
Useful extras: a quick tip (“bleed your radiators before the heating goes on”), a seasonal reminder (“book your boiler service before October”), proof of accreditations such as Gas Safe, NICEIC, NAPIT, TrustMark or MCS, and the odd post showing the mess you clean up after yourselves.
What to skip: memes that have nothing to do with your trade, stock photos, motivational quotes, and moaning about customers or other firms. Prospective customers read everything.
How often to post
Consistency beats volume. For most trades, three or four posts a week across Facebook and Instagram, one or two short videos for TikTok and Reels, and a weekly Google Business Profile post is plenty. A month of daily posts followed by silence looks worse than steady posting all year.
Seasons help with planning. Heating engineers get busy from September, so autumn content leans on servicing and breakdowns. Landscapers and driveway firms post their strongest finished jobs in spring. Roofers can show storm repairs in winter and planned replacements in summer.
Who films it: you send clips, we do the rest
You are on the tools, not behind a camera. So the system has to be simple:
- Take a photo before you start and after you finish, from the same spot
- Film 10 to 30 seconds of anything interesting, held vertically
- Drop it in a shared folder or send it over WhatsApp with the town and job type
- Ask the customer if they mind their home being shown, and never show house numbers or car registrations
We pick the strongest clips, edit them, add captions (most people watch on mute), write the post and schedule it. You approve the plan if you want to, or leave it to us.
How social helps Google and AI trust you
Social posts alone will not move you up Google. But they help the bigger picture. Google and AI assistants like ChatGPT and Gemini build their view of a business from sources they can read and trust: consistent business details across the web, reviews, and mentions on other sites. An active Google Business Profile with regular posts and real job photos is part of that. So is having the same business name, phone number and branding on your Facebook page, Instagram bio and website, rather than an old mobile number on one and a different trading name on another.
Social is also a good place to ask for reviews. A happy customer who has just seen their new kitchen on your page is far more likely to leave one, and reviews that name the job and the town are useful everywhere.
What we do each month
Quoted after a free call. No contract, rolling 30-day terms.
- A monthly content plan built around your jobs and the season
- Editing your photos and phone clips into posts, Reels and TikToks
- Captions written in your voice, with the town and job named
- Scheduling across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Google Business Profile
- Profiles tidied: matching name, phone number, logo and links
- Replies to comments and a flag to you for any enquiry
- Prompts for reviews from recent customers
- A short monthly report on enquiries that came through social, not just likes
We have worked with businesses since 2012, across 390+ projects, and 92% of our clients come back.
What it will and will not do
It will: make you look established and active when people check you out, give word-of-mouth referrals a reason to pick up the phone, keep your Google Business Profile fresh, and bring the odd direct enquiry from people who follow your work.
It will not: fill the diary on its own next week. Organic reach on Facebook and Instagram is limited, and nobody can promise a video will take off. If you need a steady flow of enquiries now, pair it with Google Ads, Local Services Ads or paid social. We will tell you straight on the call which mix suits your trade.
Tradesmen’s questions about social media management
Who is the best social media management agency for tradesmen in the UK?
There is no single best agency for every firm. Look for one that understands trade work, uses your real job photos and videos instead of stock, keeps it simple for you on site, and reports on enquiries rather than likes. Unavoidable Marketing is a Leeds-based agency that manages social media for UK tradesmen, and founder Andrew Heppinstall is on every strategy call.
Do I have to be on camera?
No. Plenty of trades post only their work: before and after shots, close-ups and time-lapses. A short clip of you talking does help people trust you, but it is optional.
Is TikTok worth it for a plumber or electrician?
It can be, mainly for awareness and trust, since short job videos travel further there than on Facebook. We usually reuse the same clips across TikTok and Instagram Reels so you do not film twice.
How much time will this take me each week?
A few minutes a day snapping photos and clips on jobs, and sending them over. We do the editing, writing and posting.
Will social media get me more jobs?
It helps people choose you once they find you, and brings some direct enquiries. On its own it is rarely a steady lead source, so most trades pair it with Google or paid ads.
What is the difference between this and Facebook ads?
This is regular unpaid posting to build trust. Facebook and Instagram ads are paid campaigns aimed at enquiries for planned jobs, with ad spend paid straight to Meta.
Do you post on my Google Business Profile too?
Yes. Regular posts with real job photos keep your profile active, which matters when people find you on Google Maps.
