Google Ads for roofers, UK
Google Ads for roofers: more roofing jobs, not just more clicks
By Andrew Heppinstall, founder of Unavoidable Marketing, Leeds. Last updated 9 October 2026.
Unavoidable Marketing is a Leeds-based agency that runs Google Ads and Google Local Services Ads for roofing companies across the UK. We split campaigns by the work you actually want (repairs, re-roofs, flat roofs, guttering), track enquiries through to booked jobs, and charge a flat monthly fee on a rolling 30-day contract. You own the account.
Why Google Ads for roofers is different
Demand follows the weather
Roof leak and storm damage searches jump after high winds and heavy rain, usually from October to March. Budgets need to scale up quickly when a storm hits and come back down when it passes, or you pay peak prices for quiet weeks.
Small repairs and big re-roofs need different campaigns
A £250 slipped-tile repair and a £10,000 re-roof are different customers searching different words. Put them in one campaign and Google spends your money on the cheaper, easier clicks.
Trust decides the call
Homeowners worry about cowboy roofers. Ads and landing pages that show insurance, guarantees, trade body membership, real photos and reviews win the call over a cheaper-looking competitor.
Plenty of wasted searches
Roofing has a long tail of DIY and job-seeker searches: roofing felt, roofing jobs, how to fix a leaking roof. Without a strong negative keyword list these eat your budget.
How we structure roofing campaigns
| Campaign | Typical searches | What the landing page answers |
|---|---|---|
| Emergency repairs and leaks | roof leak repair near me, emergency roofer [town] | How fast you can attend, call-out cost range, areas covered |
| Re-roofs and new roofs | new roof cost, re-roofing [town] | Price guide, guarantees, finance if you offer it, project photos |
| Flat roofs | flat roof replacement, EPDM roof, GRP roof | Materials, lifespan, typical cost range |
| Guttering, fascias and soffits | gutter repair near me, fascia replacement | Quick quote, before and after photos |
| Chimney and lead work | chimney repair, lead flashing repair | Experience, scaffolding, insurance |
Each campaign gets its own budget, bids and landing page, and storm-season budget rules so spend rises when demand does. Where you qualify, we also run Google Local Services Ads with the Google Verified badge, which charge per lead rather than per click.
What you get
- Campaigns built around your roofing services and the towns you cover
- Call tracking and form tracking, with enquiries followed through to booked jobs
- Negative keyword lists that filter out DIY, job-seeker and out-of-area searches
- Landing pages written for roofing customers (we can write and build them)
- Monthly report in plain English: cost per enquiry and cost per booked job
- A named person to talk to, based in Leeds
Pricing
Every account is different, so we quote after a free 30-minute call. Fees are flat and monthly, never a percentage of your ad spend, and there is no contract: everything runs on rolling 30-day terms. Ad spend is paid by you directly to the ad platform and never marked up.
Onboarding to live campaigns typically takes about 14 days. Across our 2026 State of UK Trade Marketing report, well-managed roofing campaigns averaged around £75 per booked job.
Results from our trade clients
Mr Reactive, Leeds boiler installer (Google Ads): over £22,000 of revenue in the first month from £1,200 of ad spend (18 times the spend), and £10,000 or more a month from Google Ads since. Read the case study.
Yorkshire Auto Locksmith (Google Ads): calls tripled and form and email enquiries grew six times.
These are heating and locksmith clients rather than roofers, shown because the same approach applies: structure by service, track to booked jobs, cut wasted spend.
How to choose a Google Ads agency (whoever you pick)
- Ask for cost per booked job, not cost per click. Clicks and leads are not jobs. A good agency tracks enquiries through to booked work.
- Make sure the account is in your name. If you leave, your history, ads and data should stay with you.
- Check the contract. Long lock-ins protect the agency, not you.
- Ask how ad spend is paid. It should go straight to Google on your card, never marked up.
- Ask for results in a similar trade. And treat any agency’s own case studies, including ours, as claims to check.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Google Ads cost for a roofing company?
Our management fee is a flat monthly fee, quoted after a free call. Ad spend is on top and paid straight to Google; most roofing firms start somewhere between £800 and £2,500 a month depending on area and how much work they want. We will suggest a starting budget after looking at search volumes in your area.
Is there a minimum contract?
No. It is a rolling 30-day contract with no exit fees, and the Google Ads account stays in your name if you leave.
Can roofers use Google Local Services Ads?
Roofing is one of the trades Google offers Local Services Ads for in the UK. They sit at the top of the page with the Google Verified badge and charge per lead. We often run them alongside Google Ads. See our Local Services Ads service.
How quickly will I get roofing leads?
Ads can show within a day or two of going live. Expect useful cost-per-enquiry data within about two weeks and cost-per-booked-job data within 30 to 45 days.
Do you work with roofers outside Leeds?
Yes. We are based in Leeds and work with trades across the UK. Campaigns target the postcodes you cover.
Do you write the landing pages?
Yes, we can write and build them, or improve the pages you already have.
