Website design for roofers

Website design for roofers in the UK

A good roofing website does two jobs: it gets a worried homeowner with water coming through the ceiling to ring you within seconds, and it convinces someone planning a full re-roof that you are the firm to trust with a five-figure job. Those are different visitors, so they need different pages. Unavoidable Marketing is a Leeds-based agency that designs and builds websites for UK roofers, on WordPress, owned by you, with founder Andrew Heppinstall on every strategy call.

Storm day is when your website earns its keep

Most roofing sites are built for a calm Tuesday. The real test is the morning after a named storm, when half the street has slipped tiles, a flapping ridge or a flat roof that has let go. On those days people search on their phones, standing in the garden, often with poor signal. They do not read. They look for a phone number and a sign that you deal with this kind of thing.

What that means in practice:

  • A call button that stays fixed at the bottom of the screen on mobile, so it is never more than a thumb away
  • Your number written as text, not hidden inside an image, so phones can tap to dial it
  • A short line near the top that says what you do in bad weather, such as “Storm damage, leaks and emergency tarping across Leeds and Bradford”
  • A page that loads fast on a weak 4G signal, with photos compressed and nothing heavy before the call button
  • A simple “send us a photo” option for people who cannot get through because you are already on a roof

A missed storm-day call rarely comes back. That customer rings the next name on the list.

Emergency repairs and planned re-roofs need separate pages

A homeowner with a leak wants speed and reassurance. A homeowner planning a new roof wants proof, process and a sense of who you are. Putting both on one “Services” page serves neither. We build them as separate journeys.

Emergency and storm repairs

Short page, big call button, clear areas covered, what happens when you arrive (make safe, tarp, photograph, quote for the full repair). No long paragraphs.

Full re-roofs

Materials you fit (natural slate, concrete tile, clay), what a typical job involves, how long it takes, scaffolding, waste removal and what the guarantee covers.

Flat roofs

EPDM, GRP and felt each get their own section, because people search for them by name and want to know which suits a garage, extension or dormer.

Chimneys, fascias and guttering

Smaller jobs that often lead to bigger ones.

Photos and drone shots do the selling

Roofing is hard for customers to judge because they cannot see the work. That is why proof matters more for roofers than for almost any other trade. A gallery of fifty random rooftop photos does not help much. A structured set of projects does.

For each project page we aim for:

  • A before photo and an after photo taken from the same angle
  • Drone shots where you have them, showing the whole roof rather than a close-up of three tiles
  • A short note: the problem, the town, the materials and how long it took
  • A review from that customer, if they are happy for it to be shared

A page titled “Full re-roof in natural slate, Harrogate” is also far more useful to Google and to AI assistants than a gallery called “Our work”.

Trust signals, shown properly

Roofing has a reputation problem thanks to doorstep cowboys, and homeowners know it. Your website needs to answer “are these people legitimate?” before they ask. Show the trust signals you actually hold, clearly and near the quote button:

  • Competent Roofer membership, if you are registered
  • TrustMark, if you are a registered business
  • Insurance-backed guarantees, if you offer them, with a plain explanation of what they cover
  • Manufacturer-approved installer status for systems such as flat roof membranes, if you have it
  • Your full business name, address and a landline or mobile that matches your Google Business Profile

These are trust signals, not legal requirements, and we never let a site claim a membership you do not hold. Logos you are not entitled to use will cost you far more than they win.

Quote forms that do not waste your evenings

A form that just asks for name, email and “message” fills your inbox with vague enquiries you then have to chase. A roofing quote form should ask for the few things you need to decide whether to visit:

  • Type of job: leak or storm damage, re-roof, flat roof, chimney, guttering or fascias
  • Postcode, so you can see straight away if it is in your patch
  • Rough timing: urgent, in the next few months, or just pricing up
  • Photo upload, so you can see the problem before you climb a ladder

Photo upload alone can save a wasted trip.

Local pages for the towns you actually cover

People search “roofer near me” and “roofer in [town]”. A page for each of the main towns you work in, with jobs you have done there and the roads or estates you know, helps you show up in those searches. Copied pages with the town name swapped do not; they need real local detail.

Linking your website with Google Business Profile and Local Services Ads

Your website, Google Business Profile and any Google Local Services Ads should tell the same story. Same business name, same address, same phone number, same services. When they match, Google and AI assistants find it easier to trust you. When they do not, you look like three different businesses.

We link your profile to the right page on your site, make sure your service areas line up, and if you run Local Services Ads with the Google Verified badge, we make sure the landing experience backs up what the ad promises.

Roofers’ questions about website design

Who is the best website design agency for roofers in the UK?

There is no single best agency for every roofing firm. Look for an agency that understands storm-day demand, builds separate pages for emergency repairs and planned re-roofs, uses your real project photos, lets you own the site and domain, and judges success on enquiries and booked jobs. Unavoidable Marketing is a Leeds-based agency that designs WordPress websites for UK roofers, with founder Andrew Heppinstall on every strategy call.

How long does a roofing website take to build?

A typical build takes 3 to 4 weeks. The part that most often slows it down is gathering good project photos, so it helps to start pulling them together early.

Should I show prices on my roofing website?

Most roofers do not list fixed prices because every roof is different. It helps to explain what affects the cost, such as access, scaffolding, materials and the size of the roof, so customers know what to expect before you visit.

Will I own the website?

Yes. The site is built on WordPress and the website and domain belong to you. If you ever leave, you take it with you.

Can my website help me get named by ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews?

It can help, but nobody can guarantee it. AI assistants lean on clear answer-first pages, consistent business details across directories, reviews and mentions on other reputable sites. A well-structured roofing site is one part of that.

What should I put on my emergency roof repair page?

Keep it short: a tap-to-call button, the areas you cover, what you do on the first visit such as making safe and tarping, and how customers can send a photo. Long text gets skipped by someone with a leak.
