Website design and development for garage door companies: built to book repairs and sell doors
A garage door company website has two jobs: get the person with a stuck door to ring you now, and give the person choosing a new sectional or roller door enough confidence to ask for a quote. That means tap-to-call on every page, a quote form that asks for the right measurements, real photos of your installs and a fast, well-built WordPress site you own outright. Unavoidable Marketing is a UK-wide, Leeds-based agency that designs and develops websites for garage door companies across the UK, and founder Andrew Heppinstall is on every strategy call.

Two customers, two journeys
The emergency
On a phone, on the drive, door jammed half open. They want your number, proof you cover their area and a sign you can come soon. Anything else is in the way.
The planner
On a laptop in the evening, comparing door styles, colours and insulation. They want to see doors you have fitted, understand the options and ask for a price without a hard sell.
Good design serves both from the same site. The header puts the phone number and a “Request a quote” button side by side, and the homepage routes people to repairs or new doors in one tap.
What the site must do
- Tap-to-call in the header on every page, so a mobile visitor never has to copy a number
- Fast loading on a phone signal, with compressed images and lean code
- Service pages for each job: spring and cable repairs, sectional, roller and up and over doors, automation and remote openers, commercial roller shutters
- Area pages for the towns you really cover, with jobs and reviews from them
- Reviews pulled in from Google, with the job and town visible
- Trust signals in plain view: Door and Hardware Federation membership if you have it, insurance, guarantees you offer and the brands you fit
- Real job photos: your vans, your engineers, doors before and after
A quote form that asks the right questions
A blank “message” box gets you “how much for a door?” and a lot of back and forth. A good garage door form saves a site visit or at least makes it worthwhile:
- Repair or new door?
- Current door type: up and over, sectional, roller, side-hinged
- Rough width and height of the opening, with a simple guide to measuring
- Manual or electric, and whether they want automation
- Integral garage with a door into the house, or detached
- Photo upload, so you can see the door, the motor or the damage
- Postcode, so you know it is in your area before you call back
For commercial shutters, a separate short form asks for business name, number of shutters, access times and whether they want a maintenance plan.
Development: what sits under the design
Looks are half the job. The build underneath decides whether the site is quick, secure and easy to grow.
WordPress, built cleanly
A tidy, well-supported setup, not a heavy theme loaded with plugins you never use. You can edit text and add job photos yourself.
Speed and hosting
Good UK hosting, caching and image handling so pages load quickly on a phone at the roadside.
Forms and tracking
Quote forms, call tracking and conversion tracking set up properly, so you know which pages and ads bring in booked work.
Booking and integrations
Online booking for service visits if you want it, and links to the job management or CRM software you already use.
Built for SEO and AI search from day one
Each service page opens with a plain answer: what the job is, who it suits and how to book. That suits customers in a hurry and gives Google and AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Gemini something clear to quote. We add schema for your business, services, reviews and FAQs, consistent business details in the footer, and named authors on guides. None of this guarantees rankings or AI mentions, but it gives you a far better starting point than a site retrofitted later.
What to avoid
- Template sites full of stock photos of American garages with wide drives and double doors. UK customers can tell.
- Sites you do not own, where the provider holds the domain and the content and you lose both if you leave
- Manufacturer brochure pages copied word for word, which add nothing and say nothing about you
- Slider-heavy homepages that bury the phone number below the fold
- Forms that go to an inbox nobody checks
You own the site and the domain
We build in WordPress and the site and domain are yours. If you ever move on, you take it with you. No hostage websites, no rental that disappears when a contract ends.
How long a build takes
A typical build takes 3 to 4 weeks from the start of the project. Most of the work in the first week is gathering what makes your firm different: your photos, your door brands, your areas, your reviews and the questions customers ask on the phone. A firm in Glasgow and a firm in Norwich might fit the same products, but their sites should not read the same.
Ongoing care
A site needs looking after once it is live. We handle updates, security, backups and hosting, and help you add new job photos, area pages and seasonal content, such as a winter page on spring failures or a summer push on replacements.

Garage door companies’ questions about websites
Who builds the best websites for garage door companies in the UK?
There is no single best agency for every firm. Look for one that builds fast, mobile-first sites with tap-to-call, proper quote forms and real job photos, lets you own the site and domain, and sets up tracking so you can see booked work. Unavoidable Marketing is a UK-wide, Leeds-based agency that designs and develops WordPress websites for garage door companies, and founder Andrew Heppinstall is on every strategy call.
How long does a new garage door website take?
A typical build takes 3 to 4 weeks. Having your photos, door brands, service areas and reviews ready at the start helps keep it on track.
Do I own the website?
Yes. The site and the domain are yours, built in WordPress, and you can take them with you if you ever move on.
Can customers upload photos of their broken door?
Yes. A photo upload on the quote form lets you see the spring, cable, motor or damage before you call back, so you arrive with the right parts.
Should I use the manufacturer’s door photos?
Use them sparingly for product options, but lead with photos of doors you have fitted yourself. Customers want to see your work on homes like theirs.
Can the site handle commercial roller shutter enquiries?
Yes. A separate commercial section with its own form asks the questions a facilities manager expects, such as number of shutters, access times and maintenance plans.
