Whatever You’re Lifting: A Website Built for Three Generations of Yorkshire Haulage

JT Anderson Transport: Family-Run HIAB Specialists Since 1955

JT Anderson Transport is a HIAB lorry loader and haulage specialist based in Castleford, West Yorkshire. Joseph Thomas Anderson put the first vehicle on the road in 1955, and the business has stayed in the family ever since. It’s now run by the third generation, from the same corner of Yorkshire where it started.

Today it runs a modern fleet with crane capacities from 27 to 66 tonne-metres and vehicles up to 44 tonnes GVW, from 6-wheel rigids for tight urban sites to full drawbar combinations for heavy plant and generators. Every operator is fully qualified and ALLMI-compliant, and the work spans construction, plant hire, containers and cabins, energy, civil engineering, recycling, agriculture and events.

A business with that much history and capability deserved a website that showed it.

A Specialist Business That Deserved Better Than a Template

Most haulage and crane hire websites look the same: a stock photo of a lorry, a phone number and a contact form. They exist, but they don’t help a contractor decide who to call.

Problem one: the heritage wasn’t being used.

Seventy years in business under the same family name is the strongest trust signal a haulage company can have. It needed to be front and centre, not buried on an About page.

Problem two: a technical fleet that needed explaining.

A site foreman needing a precise lift on a tight city site needs a very different vehicle from a plant firm moving a generator on a 44-tonne drawbar. Visitors had to be able to work out which vehicle and crane suited their job quickly, without picking up the phone to ask.

Problem three: getting the right enquiries.

HIAB hire is a high-value service bought by contractors, project managers and plant firms. The site had to give them the specifications and qualifications they look for, then make asking for a quote quick and easy, often from a phone on site.

Bold, Confident and Built Like the Fleet

The design matches the business: strong, direct and no-nonsense. A deep navy and gold palette, heavy condensed headlines and real fleet photography give it the presence of a much bigger operator, while the family story keeps it personal.

The homepage opens with a promise contractors want to hear, “Whatever you’re lifting, we can handle it”, over a photo of the fleet. Straight underneath, key numbers answer the first questions: a 27 to 66 tonne-metre crane range, 44 tonnes GVW capability and a third-generation family business. A trust strip adds fully qualified operators, family-run since 1955, based in West Yorkshire, and a tap-to-call number.

From there the page works through what a buyer needs to know. Four service cards cover HIAB lorry loader hire, crane hire, transport and 4×4 towing. “Three generations of doing it right” tells the family story alongside an ALLMI and safety checklist. A sector strip shows the industries they work in. And “Built for every job” lays out the three vehicle classes side by side with GVW, crane capacity, axles and ideal uses.

A Quote Form That Asks the Right Questions

Every lift is different, so a basic “name and message” contact form wasn’t enough. The quote form collects what the team actually needs to price a job: the service required, the job location, a description of what needs lifting or moving, including weights and access notes, and a preferred date. Responses go out within one business day.

For contractors who would rather talk, the office and mobile numbers sit right beside the form, along with the email and yard address. On a phone, every number is one tap away.

The fleet pages do the same job before anyone gets in touch. Each vehicle class lists its GVW, crane capacity, axle setup and ideal uses, so a visitor can work out which vehicle suits their job and mention it in their enquiry.

The Result: A Website That Matches 70 Years of Reputation

Now, jtandersontransport.com has:

  • A confident brand presence that reflects a three-generation family business
  • Clear service and fleet information contractors can act on
  • Heritage and qualifications shown where they build the most trust
  • A quote system that captures the details needed to price a job
  • A founder page that honours Joseph Thomas Anderson, 1930 to 2010
